With the theme of Information Technology in Education, the second volume of the Journal of Quality School Education (JQSE) is in print. It consists of both theoretical and practical articles, as well as some useful educational web sites provided by local teachers, which make the Journal a publication with high reference value.

The aim of the establishment of the JQSE is to provide both the school practitioners and academics with a channel to disseminate and share their teaching projects, curriculum design and research outcomes. With its publication, the Hong Kong Primary Education Research Association (HKPERA) sincerely hopes that it can bring some positive influence to the education community.

Since 1993, the HKPERA has been established with a group of Bachelors of Education from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, who were so devoted to conducting researches on basic education. After several years of development, on the day the first volume of the Journal was published in 2001, the HKPERA comprises of members who are educators from education organizations of pre-primary, primary, secondary and tertiary level; teaching training institutions and education administrative organizations. They are mainly presidents, academics, supervisors, school headmasters and teachers. With their heartfelt contributions, the HKPERA becomes one of the influential and professional organizations in Hong Kong. In collaboration with the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the HKPERA organizes conference on basic education annually. Besides, professional advices and suggestions have already been voiced in response to education policies proposed by the HKSAR Government. At the same time, numerous of educational researches, such as " " and "A Study on the Workload of Hong Kong Primary School Teachers", have been carried out. Other than these, our members actively submit to various newspapers and comment on educational issues. Since 2000, with the funding secured from the Quality Education Fund (QEF) of the HKSAR Government, the HKPERA has been working closely with the Centre for Research and International Collaboration (CRIC) of The Hong Kong Institute of Education (HKIEd) on the publication of the JQSE. All of us are really glad indeed for its first in print in March 2001.

In my belief, moving towards to the new era, Hong Kong must engage in conducting education researches continuously; upgrade local teaching professionalism; and accelerate education reform, so as to keep up with the global education standard. With this belief in mind, the HKPERA will work our best with all of you in accomplishing these goals. Our effort contributed to publish the Journal of Quality School Education reflects our sincere devotions on fulfilling the above beliefs. Here, we would like to invite all of you to contribute to the local education community by submitting papers to the JQSE.

Taking this opportunity, we would like to express our sincerest thanks once again to the QEF for its financial support; and the CRIC of the HKIEd for its logistic assistance; as well as the undivided effort contributed from the editorial team. With all of these assistances, the academic and professional standard of the JQSE can be maintained.
