A Staff Development Workshop on “Assessment Literacy” conducted by Miss Jannie Tsang for the teachers of Ching Chung Hau Po Woon Primary School was held on 27th August 2024. In the workshop, the notion of assessment literacy, its significance to different stakeholders in the education sector, the major formative assessment strategies, including Assessment for Learning (AfL) and Assessment as Learning (AaL), and using the assessment data to inform teaching were discussed and illustrated with examples. To align with the major concerns of the school, metacognitive learning strategies for enhancing students’ higher-order thinking and some eLearning tools for diversified assessment had been introduced. There were opportunities for teachers to engage in group discussions about the related issues. The participating teachers commented that the workshop did not only help them have a better understanding of the topic but also have helped them reflect how to integrate various assessment strategies in their daily teaching in a more effective manner.
