A Staff Development Workshop on “Assessment Literacy” conducted by Miss Jannie Tsang for the teachers of CCC Kei Wan Primary School was held on 30th August 2023. In the workshop, the three major assessments (“assessment of learning”, “assessment for learning”, and “assessment as learning) were recapped, the concept of assessment literacy, its significance to different stakeholders in the education sector, and assessment trends in education were discussed. Key strategies of Assessment for Learning (AfL) and Assessment as Learning (AaL) were illustrated with examples. The participating teachers were engaged in group discussions to explore how formative assessment could have a summative function and vice versa. The interactive activities and timely feedback from the speaker did not only help the teachers have a better understanding of the topic but also have given them insight in developing Assessment as Learning in school.
