Valuing Diversity, Building Social Cohesion, Developing a World Outlook: Cultivating Informed and Active Citizens
The goal of CCE is to create an interactive locus where educators (scholars and teachers) can enhance their knowledge, skills and values in order to better prepare democratic citizens. The CCE provides access to resources which can facilitate the development of a wide range of citizenship education research and projects. The CCE encourages discourse within the wider community about citizenship education issues and challenges. While serving Hong Kong , the CCE also works on mutually beneficial projects with colleagues in Mainland China, the Asia Pacific region and internationally. As the field of citizenship education is marked by its complexity, CCE uses a multi-disciplinary, multi-dimensional and multi-cultural approach.

The Centre conducts research and educational programmes or activities that serve the community, the nation and the region in the promotion of discourse around citizenship education issues and contribute to policy discussion related to citizenship education. The Centre :
�� Promotes institutional collaboration locally, nationally, and internationally.

Conducts seminars/workshops/conferences in the Center’s key themes from multiple perspectives.

Offers a variety of professional development programmes for both
pre-service and in-service teachers

�� Develops school-based programmes in citizenship education.
�� Develops an accessible data base of research and research findings that can be used by educators and policy makers.
