The EdUHK Orchestra, albeit officially inaugurated in October 2011, have a long history of achievements that can be traced back to 2005 when it started as a string orchestra led by Dr. Stefan Au. They performed regularly in concert halls around Hong Kong, featuring works written by renowned local composers and promising student composers alike, alongside with delightful selections of string repertoire. They also outreached to the community by performance in local schools. Later a group of students, who are passionate about orchestral music, formed a student orchestra in 2010, the "RO", and gave performances on- and off-campus. The two groups finally merged and hence the EdUHK Orchestra was born.

Cantonese opera is one of the most representative local musical genres in Hong Kong and south China. Teaching Cantonese opera has been included in the Hong Kong school music curriculum as well as the Music elective of the HKDSE Examination. Music teachers in Hong Kong should therefore be competent in singing and teaching the genre to meet the educational needs.  The EdUHK Cantonese Operatic Singing Group aims to provide fundamental knowledge and singing skills for participants in order to equip them to teach Cantonese opera in schools. A professional tutor will be hired to conduct the class, while Prof. Leung will also join the class and sing with the students. While participants have become more skillful in singing, accompaniment will also be introduced for a comprehensive musical experience.
