Admissions of
quality
In addition to rigorous screening, strong competition
for places ensured the quality of our recruits. In the
academic year 2002-03, our bachelor degree and postgraduate
diploma programmes recorded a significant increase in
numbers of applications. Among the eight publicly-funded
tertiary institutions, HKIEd became the fourth most
sought after. Of the students who accepted our offers
of degree places through the Joint University Programmes
Admission System, 92% made us their first three choices.

Training for life
We furnish students with a comprehensive university-level
professional and academic education which prepares them
for the challenges of the teaching profession. We also
ensure that our academic programmes include a variety
of activities outside the formal curriculum.
A campus community
We believe that campus life is an integral part of teacher
education and plays an important role in smoothing the
transition from school to working life. Around 2,000
hostel places are available for students on campus and
full-time students are strongly encouraged to live on
campus for at least half of their programme time, especially
during their first year of study.
