Abstract

The Schools Around the World (SAW) is a multinational, systemic teacher professional development project with an aim to improve student achievement. The nine participating nations/regions are Australia, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Japan, Portugal, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom and the United States. As participants come from all over the world, a good communication system tapping the advancement of technology is very important to the success of this project.

In this connection, an international web site of SAW (http://www.edc.org/CCT/saw2000) has been developed two years ago to facilitate professional discourses among participant teachers from the nine nations/regions via the internet space. Different types of students' work in each countries/region are collected and translated from local languages into English and mounted onto the SAW web site ( http://www.c-b-e.org/saw ). To further encourage local exchange, the Hong Kong SAW team has also launched its web site in February 2001 http://www.ied.edu.hk/cric/saw/. This paper provides a full description on its content.
