PREFACE
As mentioned in the Preface of the last issue, the contents of this journal are being included in various information products of the EBSCO Publishing, Inc. and a number of journal databases like Directory of Open Access Journals, Academic Journals Database, Open Directory Project, Ulrichs International Periodical Directory and Google Directory. Furthermore, our journal has recently been selected to get its contents indexed in another two prominent databases, namely ERIC (articles published in 2004 and afterwards), i.e. http://www.eric.ed.gov/ and Scopus of the Elsevier Bibliographic Databases (as of 2009), i.e. http://www.scopus.com/. In this June or First Issue of Volume 10, we are very glad to have a Foreword article on "History, philosophy, and science teaching: The new engagement" as written by Dr. Michael R. MATTHEWS who is Editor of the 'Science & Education' journal and Past-President of the International History, Philosophy & Science Teaching Group. Apart from this foreword article, there are 15 research or professional papers contributed by 30 authors from many different universities or education-related organisations around the world and they are placed under 3 main sections of this journal, namely Academic Articles Section, General Articles Section and Exemplary Teaching Methods Section to reflect the nature of those contributed papers. For all articles published in the aforementioned 4 sections, their corresponding pdf files are freely available for access in our Download section. Finally, we would
like to express our sincere thanks to the 38 external referees and all members of our Editorial Board who have carefully and critically
reviewed those manuscripts which are being considered for publication
in this issue.
Thanks
are also
due to all persons who have contributed articles in this
issue
and to all research assistants, student helpers and colleagues in the HKIEd and the East China Normal University who offered
their kind assistance in developing and promoting this online
periodical. Finally, we must express our special thanks to the Student Affairs Office of
The Hong Kong Institute of Education for providing a student helper to us through the On-Campus Work Exposure Scheme 2008-09. |
