GETTING STARTED
THIS IS OUR FIRST DESIGN
We tried it out in a classroom. It was a disaster. The pulleys
were too small and the grooves were too shallow to contain the strings.
They could not bear the weight of the long and heavy eraser when it was
being pulled up. |
THIS IS OUR SECOND
DESIGN |
We decided that it was much easier to work on a small model.
It did not work either. The eraser had no contact with the board when it
was being pulled up. |
THIS IS OUR THIRD
DESIGN |
We added a guiding track on either side of the board to help
the eraser move up and down smoothly. The idea worked but we still had the
same problem. This was because the cardboard tracks were not strong enough
to keep the eraser on track. |
THIS IS OUR FINAL
DESIGN |
We got the idea of using curtain tracks when we were looking
for something better to use as guiding tracks for the eraser. We observed
that the curtains and blinds in our school moved sideways when pulled, so
we decided to design a vertical eraser instead of a horizontal one. |
