Welcome Message
Blue skies is designed to engage Beginning Principals over an immediate period of approximately fourteen months – from near the end of their first year of the principalship to the completion of their second year. It is hoped that during this period that all involved will develop the 'habit' of learning and carry this with them through their principalship. Blue skies is designed to fit within the overall Hong Kong Principal Professional Development Framework and with other components offered for Newly Appointed Principals in Hong Kong.
Too often Beginning Principals feel isolated and even a little lonely in their new world. They know they have much to learn but are unsure when, how, or where to access this learning. As a result their learning can be fragmented and problematic. It is important to address the issues and we believe the best way to do this is through a structured yet supportive programme built upon principal collegiality and shared experience.
Blue skies is an integrated approach to ongoing professional learning
for Beginning Principals in primary, secondary and special schools in Hong
Kong. It is a comprehensive programme designed to help Beginning Principals
start their principalship on a positive note; to help them to clarify what
is important about their school and principalship, and to engage them in ongoing
professional learning – all within a supportive collegial environment.
Blue skies is based on the latest international and local research about
school leadership and administration. Feel free to read through the Programme,
what it involves and why we developed it. We welcome your feedback and suggestions
for improvement. If you would like further information, please do not hesitate
to contact us.
