About the Seminar
In 2010, members of the British Educational Leadership, Management and Administration Society (BELMAS) and the University Council for Educational Administration (UCEA) created the International School Leadership Development Network (ISLDN). Research teams from around the world are examining social justice leadership, particularly in high-need, low-income schools. The two presenters, who are original ISLDN members, will share key findings from the project, emphasizing the critical role social justice leaders play to improve the educational and social conditions experienced by underprivileged students and their families. Using the guiding principles of hope theory - goal development, agency, and problem solving - the presenters examine how school leaders can apply these concepts to combat students’ sense of hopelessness, despair, and lack control over their lives.
