It aims to (a) offer students a foundation in the German language and culture, with an emphasis on practical oral communication; (b) familiarize students with basic German vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation and the writing system (i.e. the German alphabet); and (c) enable students to communicate in simple German on a variety of topics in everyday life.
